collaborating with windows endnote
collaborating with windows endnote
I'm writing a paper with a colleague who uses Windows and Endnote. We are each writing about half the paper. There will be > 100 references cited in the article, half from each of us. The question, of course, is... is there a way I can send him my half with the citations in the text so that he can "scan" the document and create a bibliography, or vice versa?
Hi,
Yes (with a catch). Export your referernces as EndNote XML and he can import them.
The only problem is that AFAIK, EndNote won't honor the unique id, and will assign the next available id to the imported reference(s), so that the {} citations won't be found. The solution may be for him to omit the id when inserting the citations with EN (I know you can remove them later, but I don't know if you can avoid inserting them when the citation is first placed).

Thanks!
So, I can export the references as XML and he can import them, but I'm understanding that he can't "scan" my draft (Word doc) that I've given him with the in-text citations with {} delimiters and create a references list, correct? He would have to insert the citations in the text himself through endnote, and then "scan" with endnote?
