Show ref type in list view window

Post by jkr »

It would be helpful to have the option to include more information in the list view window (or maybe I just have not found where I can do that?). For one, I would find it very helpful to be able to see right away the type of the reference (maybe in short-cuts to save space?). Last viewed (either there or next to "added" on the bottom-right) would also be most welcome, at least for me.

Hi,

You can create your own format for the Concise View, and reference Type is one of the fields you can output. Bookends doesn't keep track of last-viewed, though.

Oh my, how embarrassing, I had totally forgotten, as I never changed it once I had set it the way I wanted. Thanks...

Jon, I tried coloring some of the elements in a format that I want to use in the concise view, as well as customize the font size. None of this shows up. I know it must be possible because the default concise view has color and altering font size. Am I doing something wrong?

No, you can't add colors in the format (although if information in references are colored that will follow through to the bibliography). Formats are designed for bibliographies, remember, and they don't use color.
