PDF View pane - annotations?

Post by jmdelane »

Hi Jon, I really can't say enough about how great this new release is. One question: does PDF Kit (which I assume you are using) allow you to use any of Preview's annotation tools within Bookends? This would be a great addition, as it would allow notetaking and annotation within the same program. Jim

Another PDF note: it seems a little complicated to open an attached PDF with Preview. I can simply drag the window into Acrobat to open it there no problem, but to use preview, I must go to the attachment inspector, right-click the item name (not the thumbnail) and select 'open'

Hi,

We'll probably be improving the pdf viewer over time, but whether we'll add annotations I can't say.

As for opening the pdf, there is no need to use the Attachment Inspector. Right-click on the pdf in the display pane and select Open. This assumes that Preview is the preferred pdf reader selected in the Finder.

Silly me...I did look for the right-click Open....

Thanks for the quick reply.

I see there's a little bug, too. You should be able to open it with a double-click in the display pane. I'll fix that in 10.0.1.

..... or just hit 'command-shift-o" when you have selected a reference and the attachment will open in your default viewer....

I use that one all the time ;)
