Subject Bibliography

Post by hrashid »

Greetings,

Just downloaded BE10 and wanted to play with the subject bibliography option. I have a series of CDs I put into a smart group based on reference type in order to create a discography. I selected all the CDs and attempted to create a subject bibliography using the reference type as a limiter. I attempt to switch to "reference type" in the drop down menu and I'm greeted with an "Out of Bounds Error" message.

I'm still in the smart group when working on this. iMac Intel.

Thanks,
Hussein

This is really a bug report, not a forum issue. You should zip an example database and send it to me so that I can reproduce it. Include the steps I need to take.

Since it was posted here, I thought I'd mention on the forum that the problem is fixed, and that will appear in the next update.

Thanks for sending the database and the report.

Hi, on the topic of subject bibliography, is there a way of grouping hits by date? I can't find this feature... if it's not present in the program, please consider this as a "nice to have" feature. thanks, S.

Hi,

That sounds reasonable. I'll add it to the list of things to look into.

That'll be great, it's useful in a number of ways in the humanities.
I wonder if there's a programming limitation to the "subjects" in a subject bibliography? If not, would it be possible to let the user choose whatever subject they fancy? For example, a friend of mine (Windows user...) is studying radio broadcasting history and his final dissertation will involve bibliography lists grouped by radio station.

Bookends has the ability to use Groups as terms. That means you could, for example, create a group for each radio station and Bookends would make them the subject headings.

I see what you mean now, it's a cool feature and it fits the purpose. It would be perfect if one could use Smart groups with it...
