problem with encoding superscripts for xml export

Post by thecritic »

It looks like there's a problem with exporting superscripts into EndNote xml. A title encoded like this "La Catégorie de l'honneste dans la culture du XVI^e siècle" will copy properly as a formatted citation into Word, but the exported xml looks like this:

Code: Select all

<title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">La Catégorie de l'honneste dans la culture du XVIe</style><style face="superscript" font="default" size="100%"> s</style><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">iècle</style></title>
So it appears that the wrong letter, the "s" in the word following the superscripted "e", is being superscripted.

Hi Jon,

I see you're back on the forums. Good to see you! Have you had a chance to verify this problem?

Hi Jon,

Normally you're so quick in responding to posters' comments, so I'm surprised that you haven't responded to this post. Can you confirm this problem, and if so, could it be fixed for the next update? It affects Bookends' interoperability with other bibliography management programs.

Thanks for fixing this in 10.0.3. Could this also be fixed in the update for 9.2.2 that you'll be providing once Leopard is released?

I was wrong -- the EndNote xml export bug isn't completely fixed for superscripts.

A title such as this: "La Deffence de Du Bellay et les apologies de la langue occitane XVI^e-XVII^e siècles"

becomes this in the xml:

Code: Select all

<title><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">La Deffence de Du Bellay et les apologies de la langue occitane XVI</style><style face="superscript" font="default" size="100%">e-XVII</style><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">e siècles</style></title>
What immediately follows the first superscript "e" is unfortunately being superscripted as well.
