Importing from NotaBene and Ibidem

Post by sgreen »

Is there anybody on this forum who have imported data from Ibidem to Bookends?. To put in other words, has anyone switch from Ibidem (PC) to Bookends, and how did you do it. I don't find any importfilter for such an operation.

Hi,

I don't know about Ibidem per se, but in general if you can export from another app in a standard interchange format (e.g. RIS, Refer, EN XML) then you can import that into Bookends. If you can create your own export formats from Ibidem, you can probably create an import filter that will handle it, too.

Thank you for the answer. The problem I am facing is that NB Ibidem does not seem to have an export function in the program, only import/append. That's why I am hoping to find somebody here who has taken that particular step.

I see that Ibidem lets you format your references into a bibliography. If it has a format (or style) for RIS, Refer, Medline, or other tagged output, that would be sufficient. You could make a "bibliography" with the tagged style and send to a text file or word processor file and import it from there (or the clipboard).
