Basic List Display Question

Post by Taman »

I feel like I need to apologise for this question as it's very simple, but can't seem to find the answer when I search.

In the standard bookend window, is there a way to just display the authors last names rather than last, first? Takes up too much space!

Thanks, Taman

Hi,

Good question. No, no one ever asked for that (and I didn't think it was that useful because once a db grows beyond 100 references or so there are bound to be different authors with the same surnames).

Have you tried first...last (my personal favorite) to save display space?

Hi Jon - Thanks for your quick reply.

I'm currently using Last, First... But I find that I tend to have lots of articles from the same people - given that they write on my topic. Generally I can separate them by looking at the date, but nice to see co-author to confirm.

I would imagine despite the size of the database, people are more likely to have multiple references from the same author than lots of references from different authors with the same name. Though maybe this is just me.

As a work-around, I have formatting window at the bottom which shows how the reference will be formatted in the bibliography.

Best, Taman
