OCLC Import Filter problem

Post by grebmar »

I am trying to use Bookends to import references from a specialized database in First Search OCLC. I've managed to set the filter such that I can do a search within Bookends to locate references, but I cannot import the references properly into my database. Here is the basic problem:

Only some articles are pulled in and recognized as articles. Most are imported without Journal title, page numbers or volumes, and put into the default book format. I've used 949i as the Tag for Reference Type, and 773t as the tag journal title. Books are imported just fine, with keywords, etc.

I tried directly copying the FirstSearch OCLC Filter and modifying the database, etc. but still have the same problem. The user manual doesn't seem to help either.

I am still using version 9.2, if that makes a difference.

I don't have access to that source, so I can't test it, perhaps others can. But I can say that the MARC record you see in the bottom pane when you click on a references is what Bookends is actually trying to import. And note that the tags used by the library may differ between reference types (books and articles). So pay particular attention to the details of what tags are used (and what subfields are used -- the letter) between the different types.
