Search error code -39?

When I try to open my literature database in bookends this evening, I can't open it properly and get an error message of error -39.

I couldn't see any of my references, and when I click on "All" to display my reference list, I got an error message saying "Search Error: Field name "authorEditorSortMethod" is not unique."

What should I do? Please help as I've >1000 references in the database, and I don't want to lose them all!

Rebuilding your database will probably fix it -- there was obviously a problem in updating the database from an older to the current release.

And this gives me the opportunity, one more time!, to tell people to have automatic backup turned on in preferences! If you do, you'll always have a verified and recent database available in case things go very wrong.
