citmgr files

Post by Gerben »

I frequently use databases that save RIS-file as a file named "citmgr" without extension. So I manually add .txt and import them. Would it be possible to have BE automatically recognize them without the extension?

If you drag and drop the file on a Bookends window with the Shift key held down, it will treat it as a text file.

Is there a specific reason why Bookends does not highlight (i.e. darken) itself anymore when I drag a file over it in the dock with Shift held down? I think Bookends did that sometime in the past, but it does not seem to do so anymore… (this is in 10.5.2)

Hi,

I don't recall that it ever did. The Shift key "trick" is internal to Bookends. The Finder knows that the file you're dragging is not a text file, and knows that it's not a type that Bookends can "read", so Bookends won't highlight. But if you drop it on a Bookends window, Bookends will ignore the real type and assume you know better, and will treat it as a text file.

Ah, ok, I see. Too bad though, would have been nice to be able to use the dock in this way too… :)
