Mellel-Bookends Biblio loses italics

I have bought the combo Bookends (BE) and Mellel, but cannot get Mellel's bibliography to properly italicize titles, journals, etc. BE is set to Mellel as the word processor and vice-versa. I have tried the replacement options under Mellel's preferences (replace italics with a specific style), but no luck. I have tried unformatting and using a different output style (Chicago B instead of Turabian) in Mellel, but no change.

The titles appear correctly italicized in BE preview pane, and I can generate a biblio within BE accurately with italics. I have also tried a global change to references, to restore font and style, but no luck.

The only change I can manage is replacing the plain text in the Bibliography Mellel pref with a specific font. That will force the whole Biblio to be bolded, if I choose replace with Regular Style Variation B. I obviously don't want that.

Footnotes are working fine.

So I don't know if it's BE is failing to send the data fields as requiring italics, or Mellel is not interpreting it correctly, but somehow they are not talking to one another. Which is weird, since they are obviously buddies.

If it's any help, I ported over from EndNote and Word 2008, but have had no problems with transition. I'm obviously working in the Mellel document type now, previously it was RTF.

Hi,

Make sure you are using a font that actually has an italic (oblique) face. For example, Geneva does not. Bookends will fake the italics but Mellel won't.
