Attachments and formats question

Post by jem »

After a few years of not using Bookends I'm currently trying to figure out if it works better than my current reference manager (BibDesk). One thing I've come to appreciate with BibDesk is the automatic renaming/filing and I see that Bookends have a similar functionality, what I don't understand is how to determine how to define the "rename pattern". As I understand it I should define a format and change something in there, when I tried to figure out this using trail and error I discovered that I can't create a new format.

Checking the manual I should be able to define a new format by clicking the + button in the formats manager but when I do this nothing happens. What am I missing?

Hi,

If you are using the demo (i.e. unregistered) you can't create a new format. This is explained in the Read Me, and is implemented to prevent users of older versions from inadvertently converting their formats to an incompatible format when trying out the demo. You can get around this by opening the Formats folder in the Finder, duplicating an existing format, and placing that new format in ~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/Custom Formats Folder. Then edit that.

If you are registered and are having a problem, please contact tech support directly at support@sonnysoftware.com.
