i am an ethnomusicologist, so when i write articles i normally distinguish between bibliography, discography and interviews (i have generated a special reference type for both interviews and recordings). is there a way to get bookends to produce these three categories automatically when generating the bibliography in mellel (what i have done until now was to go through the generated bibliography and copy-paste the references into its concerning category...)?
I think what you are describing is a Subject Bibliography. See the User Guide about how these are created, and be aware that in the next version of Bookends this will be handled at the time of the scan (not post-scan, as it is now).
cool, thanx - i had looked at the subject bibliography but not quite understood how it works. now i do
i do however have one more question: the way the subject bibliography seems to work is that it creates separate bibliographies depending on the criteria selected, e.g. if i select reference type i get (in my case) separate bibliographies for "book", "book chapter", "journal article", "cd" and "interview". is there no way to combine these so i get a "bibliography" (with the entries from "book", "book chapter", "journal"), discography (with the entries from "cd") and interviews (with the entries from "interview")?
The Subject Bibliography categories can be infinitely extended by using Groups. Create the groups you want (bibliography, discography, and interviews) and place the references you are citing in the appropriate group. Then create a Subject Bibliography by group.
