idem in footnotes

Post by russdquinn »

The style manual for my dissertation calls for using idem in footnotes when there are multiple listings by the same author.

I cannot figure out how to do this in Bookends/Mellel. I've searched the user guide and the forums and can't find any information about using idem.

Is this possible to setup in Bookends or does it require a post scan edit?

Thought I should clarify that I am not talking about using Ibid for recurring citations. I've found how to enable that in the Bib & Citations options in the Format Manager.

I am needing to use idem to replace author names when the same author is the author of multiple citations in a footnote.

Hi,

I'm sorry, but Bookends won't insert idem for consecutive non-identical footnotes that share the same author.
