relink lost pdfs

Post by jmurthy »

Hi
A noob question. I am now running 10.3.2 and I have lost all the pdf links to my pdf folder. The presence of an attachment is apparent with the paeprclip symbol but the software cannot find it. Is there a good way for bookends to relink all the pdfs in a specified folder to the respective references in the "all" category under groups. I have all the references in a single attachment folder without subfolders.

Thanks in advance

If you reattach *one* file from a folder, *all* attachments in the same folder will automatically be reattached. BTW, this is one reason to have Bookends file attachments for you in the default folder -- they can never become unattached.

Thanks Jon.

I don't mind having the attachments in the default folder in documents. However, I am concerned about the space on my primary HD that gets taken up by my large libraries. I would also like to have the attachments on a backup disk(which is always on and is networked as an array). Any work arounds?
If I move the attachments to the default folder, will they attach automatically after the first one?
Thanks again for your quick response. I have really liked your product especially after the switch from endnote X.

Hi,

You can have your attachments on a different disk if you like. If you're having a problem with that, please contact me for tech support.

Also, if you move your attachments to the default folder, Bookends will always find them (it looks there first, before looking for other folders). They can be in a subfolder in the attachments folder, too (but only one level deep).
