Hi, I read the post earlier on exporting from 7.7.5 and then opening in 8, but I am still not having any luck. When I try to open in 8 the exported file is not highlighted. I have also tried creating a new database--no luck. any ideas?

Bookends 8 won't open 7.7.5 for me either
Did you export the hits from Bookends 7 in "Bookends 7" format? The file should have a special Bookends icon if so. You should be able to open it in Bookends 8 with the Import References menu if you set the popup menu to "Bookends".
But I never do that. I just drag and drop the file onto a Bookends 8 database window and the import is automatic.

I tried both of these strategies for getting from 7 to 8, and neither worked. Exporting in BE format did indeed produce a Bookends icon but BE 8 could not open it.Jon wrote:Did you export the hits from Bookends 7 in "Bookends 7" format? Bookends not working
Jon's tip of dropping the exported file into a new BE 8 window worked great--odd that I can't get to open the way the manual says. Thanks for the help.

Please tell me what was incorrectly stated in the manual, so I can fix it.
With a Bookends 7 export, in Bookends 8 I tried Import References, selected Bookends from the popup menu, chose the Bookends 7 export from the open file dialog, and clicked OK. It worked.
