I'm trying to use Bookends in conjuction with other applications for the first time; I cannot enter a citation from Bookends into any word processor. Copying a citation (Cmd-Y) or drag-and-drop puts '\cite' in Mellel and creates a bibliography object with the same '\cite' text; it puts '\cite{}' in TextEdit.
Copy Formatted (Cmd-K) inserts a citation formated as for a bibliography (I presume this is correct operation), but does not create a bibliography object in Mellel (also correct?).
I can scan an RTF document, but in Mellel, I cannot verify manually entered citations: it replaces all the citations with blanks (just as it inserts blank citations as above). Opt + Double-Click in the bibliography pallette does switch to the proper citation in Bookends.
Copy Citation
i'm not quite understanding everything that is wrong here, hopefully this helps.
1. In Mellel, when you manually enter a citation (in {} I assume) you need to convert those to citations in the Mellel Bib. palette. Have you done that?
2. In your Bookends preferences, under the "Scan and Bib" tab, do you have {} chosen as the citation delimiters? Also, set the copy citation to author, date, unique ID.
3. Have you chosen Bookends as your bibliography tool in the Mellel preferences?
I hope some of this helps. If not, please post again so we can help you figure out the problem

~I swore to myself that if I ever got to walk around the room as manager people would laugh as they saw me coming and applaud as I walked away~
Hi,
There seems to be a number of misconceptions here.
The first, major, one is that you have enabled BibTeX in Bookends Preferences, and are inserting BibTeX-style temporary citations.
Disable that (unless you really want BibTeX temporary citations) and try again. If you still have questions, please post them.
