I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I don't seem to be able to find something on the forum.
I can't get Mellel+Bookends to produce year-only citations for repeated authors. I am using APA 5th edition, which formats citations using 'APA citations'. I have ticked 'use year-only for repeated authors' which should produce the following result
texttexttext (Author1, 2002; 2001; 2000)
What I am getting in Mellel is:
....(Author1, 2002; Author1, 2001)
Any suggestions/remedies? Thanks a lot!
APA citations
Re: APA citations
Putting % before the author's name will include only the date:ppnkg wrote:I can't get Mellel+Bookends to produce year-only citations for repeated authors. Jon:
thanks. I can confirm that this works fine when you select it with the author-date citations in APA 5th edition.
The citation options of the original style do not apply when you select a custom citation style. AND the citation options of the custom style do not apply as well, since the custom style formats citations, right?

Hi,
Custom citations use the primary and secondary order fields of the format to generate the citation. The settings on the second tab of the custom format are therefore ignored. So if you want APA with repeated years listed after the author, you should simply set the APA 5th Edition format to use author-date citations. Of course, I'd make a new format based n APA 5th Edition and edit that.
