Feature request: dock utility

It would be nice to have a feature similar to Apple's Mail.app, where you right-click on the dock icon and it gives you the option of creating a new message without showing the main application window. When I'm dealing with references from pdf files I don't want to have my screen cluttered with the bibliography list view, nor am I pleased to minimize it every other minute.

You can always open a reference window and close the list view -- the database will remain open. I use Command-H to hide the application (not minimize it), so all you need do this is click on the Bookends icon in the dock (which you'd have to do anyway) and press Command-N (for new reference).
