10.5.1 eating up CPU

Post by florestan »

I just upgraded to version 10.5.1, and I've noticed that when Bookends is running (even in the background) it's taking up all of the CPU on one of my cores (I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz). The fans are going full steam, which is obviously quite annoying when I'm trying to work. I've tried to reboot my system, but the problem still persists.

Has this happened to anyone other than me, and is there a way to downgrade to 10.5.0 until this problem has been fixed?

This is happening to me as well but only if I'm in attachment view. If I switch to info view then the CPU temp goes back to normal. Unfortunately, I use attachment view exclusively and since I'm writing my thesis right now, I'd really love for this problem to get solved...like...yesterday. I'm using the built-it pdf viewer since linking it to adobe caused the program to crash whenever I would import new references, inconvenient to say the least. I've had to uncheck "use Webkit to view pdfs" since this only results in a white, empty box and I think this alternate viewer is what's chewingup my CPU. Clearly something is amiss with the latest update.

Other than this, the software is perfect and this is the first serious problem I've had with it.

Hi,

This problem was fixed shortly after 10.5.1 was released and a fixed version uploaded (so, actually, it was fixed yesterday :)). If you experience problems with Bookends being hyperactive when the pdf (or formatting) display pane is open, please download 10.5.1 again. Few users should be affected, and if you don't see this then you have the fix and there's no need to download 10.5.1 again.
