Using Secondary Order across multi volume books

Post by proteus »

Hello,
a pressing concern of mine is being able to use the Secondary Order across multi volume books. I have one work to cite, in particular, that is 21 volumes big. Instead of creating an entry for each volume, I need to find a way to cite subsequent volumes automatically using the Secondary Order.

So for example, I have

An Author, Collected Works, Volume 1, A Publisher, London, 1985, p.1

as first reference to anything within this multivolume.

I would like to have secondary order spring up automatically if my next reference is from say, Volume 3:

An Author, Collected Works, Volume 3, p.12

Would this be possible at all? I have only been able to use Secondary Order on repeated citations pertaining to the same volume, and not across volumes so far.

Many thanks and hope this is clear!

Hi,

Bookends can't do this. No workaround comes to mind, but perhaps someone else can think of one.
