after snow leopard upgrade
Under snow leopard: Bookend opened originally only from the application folder, because the dock icon produced only some flickers and application did not appear at all. I did the recommended trashing of Bookend 10 file which fixed the problem. But while app opens now from dock, it claims to be not registered; however, when I put in my registration code it is accepted and everything works fine. When I close and reopen again, I am again told the app is not registered. Furthermore, "preference word processor" in the preference pane appears now in Chinese letters (I alternate between Mellel and Pages).
Re: after snow leopard upgrade
Hi,
It sounds like there is an "endian" problem with the Bookends 10 preferences file (hence the failure to recognize the stored registration number and the "Chinese" characters. You say you just created the new preferences? Odd. Please trash Bookends 10 Preferences again and relaunch. If this problem crops up again, please contact me directly for tech support (support@sonnysoftware.com).

Re: after snow leopard upgrade
Jon, thanks for your quick reply. I have sent further details to tech support.
Re: after snow leopard upgrade
For those following, the problem was that chering had an old Bookends 9 Preferences file, which was the one that had the incorrect "endian" setting (and so the garbage text). So the error was carried over every time he made a fresh Bookends 10 Preferences file (to which the old info was copied). The solution was to trash the Bookends 9 and Bookends 10 Preferences file.

Re: after snow leopard upgrade
My problem that occurs in snow leopard is that bookends crashes when I try to open my database. The database opens and you see the window for a fraction of a second and then bookends quits with no crash report. The database opened just fine under Leopard.
However it will open a new database and my last backup of my database with no problems.
Any ideas as to what is going on?

Re: after snow leopard upgrade
It appears to be the display of the pdf of articles attached to a reference within the main library that crashes the program. If I turn off the "use webkit to display pdf's" selection then the pdf is displayed and the program does not crash.
I hope this helps Jon.

Re: after snow leopard upgrade
Hm, I don't see how using WebKit to display pdfs makes a difference. Have you rebuilt the database? If so, you can zip and send it to me and I'll take a look, but it's probably fine.
