moving attachment folder

Post by dspady »

I have stored all my pdf files (attachments) in one folder on a fat32 formatted drive called CDRIVE\library. I want to move all my attachments to a folder, called "ALIBRARY" on my Mac Formatted hard Drive.
If I copy all the attachments over, and change the default drive in preferences, will Bookends find the files and reattach them automatically, or will I have to do each attachment by itself. I hope not as I have over 5000 references.

Thanks.

Bookends should find them if you do as you described. That's one of the advantages of consolidating your attachments in a default folder (and subfolders).

Hi. I had a question about this. I moved my attachments to a different folder. I also slightly changed the name of each PDF file. I have set the new default folder in Bookends preferences, but Bookends is not finding the attachments in the new folder. Could this be because I changed the filenames?

Yes. Bookends finds attachments by their names. If you want to rename them, do it from within Bookends. Don't do it yourself in the Finder.
