Secondary output with multiple citations

Post by mariagwyn »

I need to output footnotes with the secondary version of a citation (Just

Code: Select all

a, “s.”
), but without the '.' Is there a way to write the field code so that it only places a period if there are no subsequent citations, and a comma if there are?

To complicate this further, what about when there are page numbers? The default field code for turabian footnotes is a, “s,” which outputs a comma even when there are no page numbers given. This should be a period.

Help?

Please check out "conditional groups" when formatting in the User Guide. If you use {} in the format you can tell Bookends how to handle the output if all the groups in a "conditional group" do not have content.

I've also been struggling with secondary outputs, and it's the strangest problem.

When there is a second footnote reference, it looks fine but the *first* one gets output with an extra period before the page number.

That's a tech support issue. Contact us directly with a small example I can scan and your format (both zipped).
