What text styles in Reference window are for?

Post by AdamWysokinski »

Hi all,
I'm a new user of Bookends and I'm very happy with it - excellent program with great support from its author(s). However, I don't understand the need for text/font styles in the main Reference window. I agree that having various text styles in the Notes tab (and maybe Bold/Italic in the Abstract subsection of the Main tab) could be useful (although who needs every system font there?).

I often have to copy article/book details to Bookends manually. After pasting some text from a PDF file/web page into Reference window I usually have to "Restore Default Font & Style" (since imported text is too small or too large), which is time consuming and a bit irritating.

So, my wish would be either to remove text styles from the Main tab input boxes (make it optional if one needs it) and exclusively use default font there or to add a button to "Restore Default Font & Style" in the current Reference window.

Many thanks for your opinions on this issue.
Regards,
Adam

You may want to use italics in a title, for example (especially for some scientific works). You may also want to markup a reference, for whatever reason, with bold, underline, or italic. But the solution to your problem, which is that you want text pasted in as plain text, is to use Edit -> Paste Plain Text. In preferences, you can assign Command-V to this option, instead of a regular paste, so it's automatic.
