Hi all:
Until this morning, I was a happy user of Bookends. Given how well it had worked, I didn't hesitate to install the upgrade today (went from 11.1.1 (?) to 11.1.2). Now, when I scan my document (a rather large grant), multiple references are cited with incorrect reference numbers and other odd, assorted references are placed in the bibliography. I've tried rebuilding the database (to no avail) and I have the same problem if I cut out small portions of the text, place in a different document and scan a bibliography in. Here's a short example:
" Genomic DNA will be extracted from C3C5 F2 kidney and then genotyped using methods similar to what we have previously published {Leamy et al., 2009, #99120;Lightfoot, 2007 #2892;Lightfoot, 2008 #2973}."
becomes when scanned: "Genomic DNA will be extracted from C3C5 F2 kidney and then genotyped using methods similar to what we have previously published (1-3).
1. Ainsworth, B. E., W. L. Haskell, M. C. Whitt, M. L. Irwin, A. M. Swartz, S. J. Strath, W. L. O'Brien, D. R. J. Bassett, K. H. Schmitz, P. O. Emplaincourt, D. R. J. Jacobs, and A. S. Leon. Compendium of physi-cal activities: an update of activity codes and MET intensities. Med Sci Sports Exerc. 2000;32:S498-S516.
2. American, P. A., Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision. Washington, DC: American Psychiatric Association, 2000.
3. Leamy, L. J., D. Pomp, and J. T. Lightfoot. Genetic variation in the pleiotropic association between physi-cal activity and body weight in mice. Genet Sel Evol 2009;41:41.
Looking at what Bookends is trying to tell me should be reference 1 (Ainsworth), is reference #119 in the database and reference 2 (American) is reference #148. It appears to be confusing reference #2892 and #2973 with them.
Let me add that this database was imported from EndNote about 2.5 months ago and this grant did contain previous EndNote field markers. However, over the past 2.5 months with other manuscripts and grants (similar situation using same database and older documents) I haven't had this issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks! Tim

Re: Bibliography doesn't reference correct citations
HI,
This is a tech support issue. Please send me a small document that shows this (just cut and copy a small portion to a new document, as you mentioned), your database, and tell me what format you are using (or include that if it's one you created or edited). Please zip all files first, and send them to support@sonnysoftware.com.

Re: Bibliography doesn't reference correct citations
Jon w/ BE helped solve the issue. Some how, many of the temporary citations in my document became corrupted (not sure how that happened). But Jon pointed out that the easier fix (than what I did) is to run a proofread scan on the document and it will show you if any of the temp citations are mismatched with the database. It allows you there to put in the correct ones there. Thanks again Jon.
