Hello,
There seems to have been a lot of discussion regarding imports from http://www.citeulike.org However, I'm interested in sharing my references using that service. However, Citeulike only supports RIS and Bibtex imports. Is there any way to export references from Bookends to either of these formats? If this is not possible using Bookends does anyone have any suggestions for workarounds using other programs/services?
I should mention that I've take a look at the built-in Refbase support. But the "free" Refbase service at Refase.org does not allow deletion of records for regular users. I suppose one could download and install one's own instance of Refbase but I'm not interested in maintaining a server application. Also, I would like to benefit from the "social" aspects of a service like Citeulike. Mendeley is another alternative which has been discussed here. However, that seems to involve another desktop application and I'm not ready to incorporate this into my workflow just yet.
Any suggestions on my specific question or thoughts about sharing citations would be very welcome.

Citeulike Exports?
Re: Citeulike Exports?
Bookends can export references in RIS or BibTeX formats. For RIS, enable the format (in Formats Manager) and then use Biblio -> Bibliography Formatter to export the hits to disk as plain text. For BibTeX, enable the format and use the same method except export in BibTeX format (which unlike RIS will export styled text, if you have any). Either file can be imported into any other application (or web site) that has a corresponding filter.

Re: Citeulike Exports?
Thanks for pointing this out. I thought BE could export in a number of formats but I kept looking for those options under File-->Export References(Hits). I searched the manual but the references to RIS didn't seem to address my problem. But this will really help.
Re: Citeulike Exports?
You can get to this with File -> Export References, too. Select "Bibliography Format..." from the resulting dialog and you'll be in the same place (Bibliography Formatter). Of course you still need to enable the RIS and BibTeX formats to have them available at that stage.
