Library view window in Bookends 11.2

Post by aechallu »

First of all, good update and congratulations on getting BoT out the door. I hope it has the success it deserves and that it also increases visibility for Bookends.

On 11.2, the new "one-column" style is amazing but I have a few suggestions and comments:
1st- the title in bold font, light blue: The contrast in the current setup is a problem, especially considering the patterned light blue background. Could the title font be dark blue [i.e. the background of a selected reference] or black?
2nd- It's important to be able to sort that list. Right now it seems it's only sortable by the title. I think you can configure a gear submenu or a menu coming from the arrow at the right of the References column title that allows users to sort by the columns selected in the List view preferences.
3rd- would it be possible to customize what's displayed? Can't find that.

Thanks!

Hi,

1. You can change the title color in preferences.

2. The list is initially sorted by author/date (on open, just like the column view). Clicking on the header does a sort of the list by contents (since there is only one cell, it's by title). You can click back to multicolumn view and click a header to sort any way you want, then click back on the single column view.

3. No, it's not customizable. It's designed to be universal. If you'd like something else shown, please ask.

On reflection, how about a right-click on the one-column view that had the option Sort By -> hierarchical list of all fields?

1- Thanks!
2- A right click with a Sort by option seems perfect. I typically need to sort either by date added, or by author, date published. Very rarely by title.
3- I was thinking on using a citation format for the one-column view. I have two databases with relatively different needs in terms of display, so that approach would have been the most useful. But I understand the constraint, no problem.

Thanks for your time.
