Hi,
after updating to 11.2.2 attaching pdfs slows down incredibly. Regardless the way I try to attach my pdfs it takes almost 4 minutes until the attach dialogue shows up and another 4 minutes until the pdf shows up in the BE window. This is true both on my MacBook Pro and on my iMac. My database has about 45000 entries and nealy 10000 attachment. But before the update attaching files only took 10 to 12 seconds. Is there anything I can do?
Thanks, Tom
Update 11.2.2

Yes, download 11.2.2 again. This was fixed in a silent update soon after the initial release.

Re: Update 11.2.2
well I downloaded 11.2.2 yesterday and gave it another try this morning. Same problem! I re-installed 11.2.1 from time machine. No idea why it takes so long.

Re: Update 11.2.2
Do you have the "attachments" pane activated at the bottom of the Bookends window? I experience tremendous lags (actually, freezes) whenever I drag-and-drop an attachment into a reference with that view active. In contrast, with the "formatted" and "tag cloud" views there seems to be no issue (I have not attempted drag-and-drops with the "website" view).
I do not have the Adobe PDF plugin installed. Running Lion 10.7.2 here.

Re: Update 11.2.2
But I do know, and it was fixed in the silent update. Make sure you don't have two copies of 11.2.2 on your HD and are launching the wrong one by mistake. If you're sure and the problem persists, you should contact tech support directly.tole wrote:well I downloaded 11.2.2 yesterday and gave it another try this morning. Same problem! Re: Update 11.2.2
I downloaded only one version of the recent update, yesterday (therefore the silent update version). I found that any attempts to attach pdfs caused the application to freeze. Then I tried Macula's suggestion, and it worked for me. Interesting.

And I would appreciate receiving an update (on- or off-forum) in case a solution to the issue is found.
While acknowledging that the quality of Jon's support is truly unprecedented—and as a customer I am personally thankful to him for this extraordinary commitment—I fail to understand why this forum is not the right venue to discuss technical problems, especially when such problems are encountered by more than one user (as in this case). No other software forum that I am member of enforces such a policy.

Re: Update 11.2.2
That was explained in the first post to this forum (why it exists):
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2038
The forum is for dissemination of information, feature requests, how-to's, etc. It is not for technical support.
First, for anything beyond the trivial problems, I'll almost certainly need pictures, files, crash logs, etc. (i.e. attachments sent to me). Second, there may be many exchanges necessary, and the forum will fill up with junk, decreasing its usefulness (i.e. searching will result in lots of useless hits). Finally, I get emails every 10 minutes. I check the forum when I have some free time. So you'll get my attention much sooner if you contact me directly.
Again, this forum is NOT for tech support. I have let the original posts stand, but I'll direct you to write to tech support.
