Curious Issue with Importing PDF's from the Internet...

Post by bgarchow »

Hi,
BE 11.3.2 on OS X Lion. Sometimes when doing an online PubMed search BE is unable to pull-in the pdf file for the selected reference. So I display the PubMed webpage and navigate to the pdf file (usually from PMC). Most of the time, BE will then import and attach the pdf but sometimes (maybe 10%) BE still won't attach the pdf even though it is open in it's browser. Any thoughts?

The fact that you can navigate to it doesn't mean that Bookends can find it on the publishers web site using HTTP sockets (which are independent of the browser). These are completely independent. However, if you can navigate to a pdf with Bookends browser you can *always* download and attach it by dragging and dropping the pdf proxy icon (the dotted rectangle) or right-clicking on the pdf proxy icon.
