what is the best way of importing 2000 pdfs?

Post by jojoba »

I have tried copying the pdfs into the BE attachments folder and then selecting references in BE and clicking 'Find and attach local PDFs'. This generally doesn't work. For example, I just tried to attached pdfs for a special issue that contained five pdfs, and BE only managed to recognise one of them. I've also had it attach the wrong pdf several times.

When I drop and drag a batch of pdfs into BE, it seems to stall if it doesn't manage to match the first pdf.

I really would rather not have to do all of this manually, but even when I try that, BE never directs me to the same folder, so each time I want to successively attach pdfs that are located in the same sub folder, I need to click my way through to the same folder each time. Also, I'm finding it impossible to attach pdfs from the integrated search engine. When I try, the 'binder' icon shows up, but when I click on pdf view, BE tells me it can't display the pdf.

I realise I'm probably overlooking something/ not going about this the right way, but I can't figure it (I have read though the manual) and I'm getting frustrated :( Any assistance much appreciated.

Please read the User Guide (Help menu), especially the section on finding local pdfs (you're doing it wrong). Then contact tech support directly if you need assistance (support@sonnysoftware.com).
