How to print list of entire bib, sorted with unique ID

Post by Rondonraita »

Hi,

I am encountering some problems with getting my references right, and have decided to be very thorough and double-check everything. Therefore I need a list of all my 1300 references, as it appears in the regular interface, that is Author, Date, Title, Unique ID (I want to sort the list according to unique ID). And that as a pdf. I can't find out how to do this and would really appreciate some help.

With thanks!

Create a format that outputs these items:

a, d, t, @

(or whatever order you prefer, with or without separating commas).

Mark all your references, then use Biblio -> Bibliography to create the bibliography and either send it to disk or show it in the Bibliography window. If you do the latter, you can then Print -> PDF.

P.S. If you want the refs sorted by unique id, add that column to the reference list (in preferences) and click on the header to sort.

Thanks! How do I stop it sorting according to date? My output format is @, a, d, t. The Unique ID column is on the right hand side, and I clicked it before creating the bibliography. All looked ok, but the output bibliography refuses to be sorted by ID. :?:

Sort and then mark all. The hit order will then be from the top to the bottom of the list.

Sorry, but it really doesn't work. It either sorts according to date, or according to author.
I unmarked everything, clicked on Unique ID it was sorted according to Unique iD. Then I generated to bibliography, and it was sorted according to author...

Ah, check your format. If sorting by author/date turned on in the format it will override the hit list order. Uncheck alphabetize references.

Hi, thanks for helping! But I've done that. Now it is sorting according to date... It's driving me nuts!

Does it somehow matter where the Unique ID column is in the bibliography window? It is on the right in mine. Again the format is: @, a, d, t.

You have to unmark and then mark all references after sorting the list (to that Bookends resets the hits list). As long as the format isn't forcing a sort, the bib should come out in the same order as the hits list.

I'm away for a few days and can't test this myself. If you can't figure it out, I'll do that when I return.
