Hi Jon,
found out a bug and way to replicate it.

If I go to Bookends preferences > lists > fields to display and put "label" in one of the columns, and then I add a new empty reference and try to change its type on the right sidebar, I get the error:

An error has occurred: database engine error: Identifier "" is not found.
Please perform a Library Maintenance -> Repair or Rebuild on this library.

Repair / rebuild wont fix it, but if I remove the "label" display from the list, the problem disappears.
