Hello!
At work I use an eMac 1 Ghz Power PC G4 with Mac OS 10.2.8.
Bookends 9.0.1 work very fine there. Problem is that it can't uncompress the .dmg file to install the new version 9.0.2; it uncompress the .zip file but refuses to do the same to .dgm file showing me an error 95. It uncompressed all the hundreds of .dmg files I give it before and still do it after showing the 95 error for "Bookends.dmg" or so.
Same happened when I ungraded from 9 to 9.0.1, and I had to install it from a pen drive, after uncompressing it in another computer (iBook G4, OS 14.0.1). Now I will have to do the same manouver to upgrade it in the eMac. This is minor trouble for me, but some people with same problem as me (if there are any) and less keen on Bookends, can get here a less good impression.
Greetings from Portugal, and sorry for some "creative" english here.
Problem opening the Bookends .dmg file
It opened fine for me in OS 10.4.1 in the iBook. But it never opened in the eMac OS 10.2.8.
I opened many many .dmg files in both computers, I just double click them in the desktop. Just the .dmg of Bookends 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 can't open in the OS 10.2.8 eMac, never had trouble with other dmg files; previouse versions of Bookends since version 7.7.5 had no trouble to install in the eMac either, but they were installed probably before I upgraded it from 10.2.6 to 10.2.8.

lidador, maybe you can email me directly at

I'll make a tiny .dmg here with nothing in it and send it to you -- see if you can open that.

Hi strongbow,
Yes, I've had another report of that as well. Hard to figure out -- the .dmg and .zip are made with Mac OS X 10.4.4, so it's all Apple code. I made an empty .dmg that lidador was able to open. So it seems there is a problem with this particular .dmg. This is obviously a bug in Mac OS X, but I'm not sure of what a workaround might be (other than open it on 10.3 or later an transfer it to the older OS).
