Short title with long line

Post by eleuteruiz »

I haven't been accesing the forum too much lately, and have now downloaded BE 9.0.4.
The new improvements are very interesting and useful. Thanks, Jon!

Just one comment: I don't see it so useful to have such a long line for "Short Title", since it is to be, precisely, short.
I see the need of having a longer URL line, whence the need of another long line field. But perhaps it would be better to have instead a longer "User 1" line, for other purposes. For example, I use it for Subtitles (in my format subtitles need a different format), where a long line would be most useful.

Thank you.

I was waiting for someone to complain about the Short Title field being too long...

It was made longer to match the URL field. Since I can't change the tab order at this point (without disrupting too many internal details) the field order is fixed. That may change.

Speaking of tab order, why does Publisher come before City?

Hi Jon,

As long as the reference window interface and field sizes are being discussed - is there any possibility of increasing the size of the Journal field? I have to enter many, many journal titles (especially Russian ones, for whatever reason) that don't fit in the window and need to scroll. This is an issue when using autocomplete, as once it kicks in with a journal title too big for the field all of the text immediately shifts up out of view and the first line is not completely visible (only the very bottom of the characters can be seen) such that it's basically impossible to certain what the auto-complete has brought up.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

To enlarge the Journal field, just make the window larger (horizontally).

As for autocomplete scrolling the field, I've fixed that for the next update.
