Title case for book chapters

Post by ebenhero »

Most of the references for book chapters in my database have the titles of both the book chapter and of the book in sentence case. However, the format for most bibliographies that I use require that the book chapter title appears in sentence case and the book title in title case. If, in the formats manager, I choose for the 'title' to be formatted in title case then this affects both the book chapter and book titles. Is there a way to have only the book title formatted to title case? Or is the only solution to change the book titles to title case manually?

Cheers

Hi,

Bookends treats the various titles the same with regard to changing case. Your solution (changing the case in the database) will work, but it's not as bad as you may think. There is a Global Change option to change case for text in any field you want. You can Find all Book Chapters and then do such a Global Change on the Book Title field (on a copy of your database, I suggest, because this is not undoable).

Thanks, relatively easy solution; only slight pause for thought when I saw that the 'book title' field didn't appear in the Global Change Case menu, and I had to map it to the 'vol(issue)' field (which is the corresponding field when the reference is for a journal article).
