reference types?
I use Bookends primarily to keep track of books and articles. But I'd also like to use it to catalogue my audio CDs. When it comes to adding a new reference, however, the only reference type that corresponds to this is "audiovisual material," for which the field designations seem neither i...

Bookends and Nisus Writer Pro
I've just received an announcement about the forthcoming Nisus Writer Pro. I currently use Mellel, but just in case, I'm wondering how Bookends works, or will work, with Nisus.

problem entering new refs
I'm suddenly having a problem I've not encountered before. When I try to enter a new reference, I can type into the first field, but as soon as I try to move to the next field, I get the following error message: Database Engine Error: Segment "3857" is wrong. The last segment is "3856...

multiple dates
I'm sure this has come up before, but I can't find an answer in the User Guide. I want the formatted entries for books, essays, etc., to include both the original date of publication, in parentheses or brackers -- e.g., (1937) -- and also the date of the edition I am using. For example: Evans-Pritch...

control of in-text citations
The default font size for in-text citations seems to be one size smaller than that of the paragraph in which the citation is placed. Is there any way of controlling the size of the font? Specifically, I'd like it to be the same size as the paragraph itself.

More problems with groups...
My groups still don't work, as described above. So I tried creating a new static group, giving it the name "test group." Every time I try to do this, Bookends crashes.
Obviously, there is something serious wrong here. Can someone help me?

A problem with groups...
I'm teaching a course this fall on evil in Western thought, and was preparing a bibliography on the subject using Bookends "groups" function. I'd prepared quite a list until today, when I suddenly discovered that the group called "evil" had no references in it. A bit dismayed, I ...

problems changing font
I recently decided to change the font for bibliographies, references, and lists -- all three -- to Palatino. Initially this seemed to work just fine, but then I noticed that some fields had remained in Lucida Grande, and also that this rebellious behavior was carried over into the formatted citation...

citing the "year" of a published book
I recently entered a bibliographic record of Leibniz's Theodicy in Bookends, and was confronted with a difficulty that I managed to solve years ago in Endnote. Briefly, I want the "Year" field to include not only the particular edition I'm using, which is 1985, but also the date that the w...
