"Icon Only"?
Bookends is the only program I have that does not have an "Icon only" setting for the toolbar. Is there a chance of seeing this in a future release? On a small monitor like an 11.6" Macbook Air, that little bit of space would b nice to reclaim.
Re: "Icon Only"?
Personally, I dislike the icon-only view. But it may be something we add when Bookends is Cocoa.

Rather than start a new thread for a simple question....
For some reason I've lost the 'View' button in the toolbar and cannot for the life of me find where to customize the toolbar to included my preferred buttons. Can anyone help please? Customise toolbar is normally under the view menu, but not in the latest BookEnds.
Cheers.

Re: "Icon Only"?
View was removed from the toolbar some time ago (there is still a View menu and keyboard shortcuts, and of course the icons in the control strip at the bottom of the window). There has never been a customize toolbar option in Bookends.

Thanks Jon - I think I was getting confused by the 'View' item in the toolbar of the older version of BE that I've had running for some time.Jon wrote:View was removed from the toolbar some time ago (there is still a View menu and keyboard shortcuts, and of course the icons in the control strip at the bottom of the window). Count this as another vote for a customize toolbar option

This is why it's good to provide the option. That way, everyone's happy. You can have the not-icon-only view, and I can have icon-only (or perhaps text-only on an 11.6" screen). I do know I'm less likely to upgrade to 12 if this option's not in, especially since I understand it's relatively simple to code.Jon wrote:Personally, I dislike the icon-only view. There is no Bookends 12. And any changes to the toolbar will come when they come.

Re: "Icon Only"?
(Way) late to seeing this response, but yes, I understood there was no 12 when I commented. The point was that when 12 is released*, small things like that (and big things, of course) will compel me to consider other options. I like Bookends well enough, but sorry to say this is not a loyalty thing for me. Whoever "bugs" me least as I spent a year writing a 300-page dissertation with hundreds of references gets my money.
*If you have no plans to ever release "12," let me know so I can switch now.

Bookends is updated, almost always with new features, every 4-6 weeks, and has been since 1998 (when we started Sonny Software).

I don't know when we'll make an integer jump (and I don't think it matters much) but I presume there will be one.
