Bookends on Mac App Store

I am very excited about the release of BE 12 and have been upgrading since v. 9. I am thinking of getting it via MAS, to simplify my application management, and don't mind paying the full price for the new version. The program has been invaluable to me, and Jon got a shout out in my dissertation ack...

Re: New user: questions about Mendeley, note cards, annotati

Issue 5 sounds like a Lion issue with Autolock. You can either click "Unlock" or turn off file locking in preferences, under "Time Machine" and then "Options."

Re: Question about the search box

Sorry Jon, I should have been more clear. I did try the troubleshooting tips you posted here and in other threads, to no avail. It is less noticeable on the new MacBook Pro, but it does persist. I did a clean install of all my software, no migration of old settings, etc..

Re: Bookends freeze after changing external displays on Macbook

I thought it was happening from switching networks. It usually happens to me when I'm switching from my work network, for which I have to be registered, and my home network. However, I use an externally display almost every day at work, so I suppose that could be an issue as well. It's not 100% repr...

Re: Question about the search box

I will second the issue. I had a MacBook that I thought I was overtaxing. However, I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro and on a clean system install I find that the search box is not recognizing all my key inputs. So, if I want to type "Firefox," I get "firox."

Thanks

Dear all, I recently finished my dissertation and wanted to share a line I promised would be in there: " I would not have managed the sheer number of references were it not for the program Bookends and its developer Jonathan Ashwell, who was incredibly responsive and made sure that the program ...

Re: Update Terms

Sorry, that's what I was missing. I thought it was going to be rebuilt on every open for every user. All clear now. Thanks.

Re: Update Terms

Would it have to be on open? Could you create a button to do it? Or a check box to "rebuild terms on next launch?"

Re: New web site feedback

Jon, Just a last couple of quick comments: 1. On the left column of the start page, can you set off the navigation a little bit more? Perhaps a line under the navigation, before the testimonials? Or adjust the left margin of the line "What our users are saying about Bookends," so it's flus...

Re: New web site feedback

Thanks Jon. I did poke around and I wasn't clear in my comment. I am suggesting moving a few of those image to the front to fill in the whitespace in the main column. There are good arguments for leaving the whitespace, but in case you didn't want it I was putting forward what I think really makes B...

Re: New web site feedback

Jon, Wow, that was fast. The readability of the site got a lot better for me with the move to the left. I don't know if you want to fill some of the whitespace in the main column, but there are a few key screenshots that I think would really help to sell BE. The list of references is nice, but doesn...

Re: New web site feedback

Jon, Really like the redesign. It definitely looks more modern than the current design. A couple of comments: 1. The background color seems a bit jarring to me. I would go for something a little more subdued to fit with the black banner. 2. The navbar on the right didn't register right away. I perso...

COinS Data Import

Jon, I love the fact that I can import COinS data from certain websites. I have a question as to how BE works with COinS enabled sites. I can get the data from Wikipedia, for example, but not NY Times or BBC News, both of which Zotero recognizes. Is it a limitation of the filters in BE, or are these...

I like this idea. Perhaps "back" and "forward" buttons like in a Finder window?
