Issue 5 sounds like a Lion issue with Autolock. You can either click "Unlock" or turn off file locking in preferences, under "Time Machine" and then "Options."

Sorry Jon, I should have been more clear. I did try the troubleshooting tips you posted here and in other threads, to no avail. It is less noticeable on the new MacBook Pro, but it does persist. I did a clean install of all my software, no migration of old settings, etc..

I thought it was happening from switching networks. It usually happens to me when I'm switching from my work network, for which I have to be registered, and my home network. I will second the issue. I had a MacBook that I thought I was overtaxing. However, I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro and on a clean system install I find that the search box is not recognizing all my key inputs. So, if I want to type "Firefox," I get "firox."
