10.6.1 does not launch! PANIC!!
I downloaded 10.6.1 from within 10.5.?. After "install and relaunch" nothing happened. Now when I try to start 10.6.1 nothing happens. OSX 10.5.7 and intel core duo. What should I do? Now I don't have access to my references. I am terrified after having been a happy user for a long time. I...

Re: Unable to sort bibliography with "scands"
The real reason for posting the question is that I don't find anything to REALLY complain about and wanted to show that I am still alive. I have no problems with "postsorting" a bibliography any way I want. I tried to persuade my daughters to use Bookends. The younger one went to Stanford....

Re: Unable to sort bibliography with "scands"
I want to celebrate eighteen months of waiting with a reposting of the original question: "Authors like, e.g., Goldberg/Schiffrin/Östman (three records) sort correctly in list view ( "Ö" last). In the bibliography they are sorted as Goldberg/Östman/Schiffrin. The last character in the...

I exported as xml and imported into a new db. Speed now same as Jon's. Verify did not indicate any problems with the old db but it took a minute to load. Several times. A minute ago I decided to rebuild the old db. the rebuilt db was as fast as the new one. No reason to worry about this any more. I ...

Very slow opening of db 29 recs = 1 min
When I open a db with 29 records I get the spinning wheel for appr. 1 minute. Is this normal? Is there anything can do to speed it up. Not a big issue. What is one minute compared to the life of a mac?

I have tried all possible (perhaps except the right) alternatives and still cannot make the bibliography put names starting with Å, Ä, or Ö after Z. One reason might be that I use an English system with a Swedish keyboard. Scands are entered as high ascii (I assume)? I can live with this problem ...

Unable to sort bibliography with "scands"
Authors like, e.g., Goldberg/Schiffrin/Östman (three records) sort correctly in list view ( "Ö" last). In the bibliography they are sorted as Goldberg/Östman/Schiffrin.
Is there a way to sort the bibliography so that Scandinavian and German characters are sorted correctly?

Jon, I don't think it is worth anybodys time to track down the reason for this. It is such a minor issue. It will probably go away with time. Call it a feature: During import BE wants the user to stay awake and follow what happens. The time is only a few seconds and I don't think big imports happen ...

Has to move cursor during import! Bug?
I imported 500 refs from bibtex. The counter had a habit of stopping after having imported 20 refs. When I move the cursor 20 more are imported. And swo on... This is not a big problem when you know how to avoid it. Is there something I should know?

I use Mellel+Bookends for wysiwyg and Texshop+Bibdesk for latex. I bought Bookends recently so I might be wrong but it looks as if import and export works. Some of the bibtex fields don't show up in Bookends but that is not surprising. Before you ask why I use two environments: Mellel is good and fa...
